In recent years millions of people around the world have been inspired by compelling books, movies and speakers (such as Hotel Rwanda) to get involved in Rwanda.  It seems like everyone wants to come to Rwanda to do something.  Why are so many people focusing on Rwanda?  In light of the genocide in 1994, in which almost a million people were slaughtered, people want to help.  And, in truth, Rwanda needs help.  HIV-AIDS, street children, unemployment, poverty, widows, orphans, inadequate health-care, rising food costs, over-population, tribal conflicts, and… the list continues!

Churches, as well, are in great need.  Though the number of churches continues to proliferate throughout the country, most tend to be very Pentecostal in nature.  Many churches have begun to embrace the Prosperity Gospel.  And, a couple of churches have even named their top leaders “apostles,” meaning that they now have a level of life-long leadership and authority which answers to no one.  The attractiveness of church leadership as a position of authority and ensured income has made the pastorate a unique avenue for unspiritual opportunists to climb the ladder of societal success.  Issues such these have caused highest level political leaders in Rwanda to boldly declare that though they believe in Jesus, they don’t believe in the church!

So, what is the solution to Rwanda’s problems?  What is the best medicine?  At New Creation Ministries we believe that the only solution which will have lasting value and significant impact is found in Jesus Christ.  And, Jesus chose the church to be the vessel through which the world is impacted.  Thus, we believe that the most important thing we can do for Rwanda today is to help the church function as it was intended to function – as the Body of Christ.

What is New Cration Ministries?  New Creation Ministries (NCM) is a Rwandan parachurch organization devoted to helping the church in Rwanda function as the Body of Christ.  The ministry's focus comes from 2 Corinthians 5:17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed; behold, the new has come.  NCM desires to see Rwandese believers truly live as new creations in Jesus Christ.  And, this can't happen apart from healthy churches!
