Return to About NCM

New Creation Ministries (NCM) is made up of various departments.  Because of the small size of our staff, there is much overlap between departments.  But, we still think of them as separate endeavors, though they all have a common goal to help the church function as the Body of Christ.  And, each department contributes to the development of the others.

  1. Pastoral Training School:  Ninety percent of pastors in Rwanda have never completed secondary school.  Thus, there is a huge need to provide solid biblical and pastoral education to this multitude of church leaders.  The Pastoral Training School (PTS) at NCM seeks to meet this need.  The PTS is a four year modular program.  Pastors from all over Rwanda and southern Uganda come to NCM’s facility four times per year for three weeks at a time.  During those three week sessions, they study three lessons.  Their studies continue while they are in their homes, as well, as they have projects to do, lessons to teach and books to read.

  2. Literature development:  It has been said that all of the Christian literature written in Kinyarwanda could fit on one small shelf.  NCM has a constant goal of producing helpful Christian literature for the church in Rwanda – written in Kinyarwanda!

  3. Lay leadership training:  In the past, lay leadership training has been a major thrust in NCM’s ministry.  In recent years, focus has shifted to the discipleship of university students, realizing that they are the ones who will lead the churches in years to come.

  4. Agricultural demonstration center:  With the rising food costs and ever increasing shortages of food supplies in Rwanda, effective food production is a huge need.  Our goal with the Agricultural Demonstration Center (ADC) is to introduce people to new ways of growing and producing food.  And, because those who study in NCM’s programs are church leaders, they are natural disseminators of the ideas which they see at our center.  By exposing them to new and improved ways of growing food, they can take the ideas back to their villages, reproducing what they have learned.  The project has both livestock and crop components.

  5. Children’s ministry:  In order to effectively equip the next generation of church leaders, NCM highly values children’s ministry.  In recent years, NCM has translated AWANA materials into Kinyarwanda.  Currently the children’s ministry is focusing on reproducing effective children’s ministry leaders.

  6. degree level bible school:  Because of the current Rwandan government’s emphasis on both education and English, NCM considers this a strategic time to begin a highly contextualized Bible school which offers a higher level of education.  Thus, NCM is in the early stages of beginning a Bible school which will offer a bachelors degree.  The program will be taught in English and will have as its goal training and equipping both pastoral and lay leaders for the church.
